Our engineering capabilities range from basic structural, mechanical, electrical & instrumentation, and process analyses to complex integral turnkey engineering services.

Structural & Mechanical

Specialised engineering modelling including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and vibration analyses.

 

Structural inspections, certification and fitness for service audits are performed as a legislative requirement.

 

Structural and civil design and design audits are executed according to various worldwide standards including SANS, SNIP & GOST (Russian), EN, International Universal Building Code, API, ASME and PD5500.

 

Accurate 3D site layouts of complex arrangements are obtained using sophisticated 3D scanning technology.

 

Pressure vessels and heavy fuel storage tanks are designed according to ASME VIII, API 620, 650 ASME B31.3 and equivalent.

Pyrometallurgical Process Modelling

Resonant use Pyrosim software to predict flowrates and analyses of product streams of pyrometallurgical processes. The software further has the capability to calculate multi-component multi-phase equilibria.

 

This provides a framework for the calculation of material and energy balances and a basis for cost comparisons between process options. These models are calibrated using years of onsite measurement results, to ensure optimal predictability.

 

ChemCad is further used to simulate steady-state continuous chemical processes using libraries of chemical components, physical properties and thermodynamic methods.

 

It is used for the design of new processes or the evaluation and troubleshooting of existing processes.

3D Scanning Services

Resonant offers 3D laser scanning services for fast and exact indoor and outdoor measurements in three dimensions.

3D scanning can be successfully utilized in the following applications:

  • Scan-to-BIM: Delivering real world information into BIM models.
  • Built environment: Precise geometrical recording of existing properties as the basis for conversions or extensions
  • Space optimization: By prior creation of 3D models.
  • Structural analysis and        maintenance: Rapid and cost effective control of the specified load-bearing capacity of supporting structures as well as wear and tear.
  • Construction progress monitoring: Seamless capture and monitoring of construction progress for legal and technical documentation.
  • Deformations control: Documentation of deformation processes and monitoring of countermeasures.
  • Project supervision: Whenever there are excavations, bridges, towers, open-pit mines, roads, railways, reservoirs, pipelines to be built, there is a need for close monitoring of the individual project phases to meet the project’s requirements.
  • Deformation monitoring: Determining if the surveyed structure or object is changing shape or moving. Saves time and rework during construction.
  • Large volume calculation: When measuring loose material in bulk, e.g. in barges, silos or in warehouses, large volume determination on a regular basis is an important consideration. Laser scanning allows for fast, accurate and reliable dimensional calculations
  • Quality control: Precise laser scanning ensures that the final as-built condition fit design intent and minimizes the chance of potential problems.

Construction Site Survey

The following services are provided from planning to completion:

  • Surveying with full Engineering support on findings,
  • Precision levelling up to 0.1mm,
  • Setting out of mechanical installation, concrete works and holding down bolts,
  • Setting out of gridlines,
  • Centre line detection and transfer from existing to new works,
  • Topographic survey and setting up of benchmarks before construction starts.
  • Integrating construction survey’s with local or global coordinate systems,
  • Settlement and deflection monitoring during construction and life of structure,
  • Cadastral surveying land surveyor’s certificates and property boundary surveys,
  • As-built surveys,
  • Identifying critical dimensions and continuous checking of these dimensions during construction against benchmarks,
  • Survey accuracy to comply with SANS 2001-CC1 and CS1 Degree of accuracy 1,
  • Full survey reports of completed items before hand over,
  • Produce CAD drawing with all relevant survey data for data books.

Electrical & Instrumentation

The electrical and instrumentation division provides consulting engineering on the design and installation of plant automation, electrical work, instrumentation and control systems, and have experience in various fields including mining, manufacturing, petro-chemical, nuclear, aerospace and utilities.

The dedicated engineering team utilizes the latest OEM aligned software as well as tools developed in-house for fully customizable project deliverables that are compatible with most International manufacturers as well as the following industry leaders: Siemens, ABB, Schneider Electric and Alan Bradley Rockwell thereby ensuring success even with the most demanding requirements.

Asset Management

Asset Management is the management and care of expensive engineering assets or production equipment, for optimised utilisation over the complete lifecycle. Resonant uses the principles of the ISO 55000 standard to assist asset-intensive organisations to achieve this challenging goal.

It is essential to balance the often conflicting requirements of risk and opportunity, in order to have profitable operations that are safe and sustainable in the long run. In order to achieve this, Resonant provides the following services:

Resonant Nuclear (Pty) Ltd is a company that actively participates in the engineering design of nuclear and other processing facilities in both national and international markets.
